Week of 6/8

Happy Week 2!

This is a big week with our first official meet (and its a big one)! Totally understand these emails are starting to resemble a chapter book, but make sure you read all the way to the end! Please see details below regarding this week:

Monday 6/8- Regular Practice (OG 15+ set up day, arrive at 6:15)

Tuesday 6/9- Regular Practice (OG 13-14 set up day, arrive at 6:15)

Wednesday 6/10- Regular Practice (OG boys 12 year old set up day, arrive at 6:15)

Thursday 6/11- Regular Practice (OG boys 11 & under set up day, arrive at 6:15) with Poster Making after each session. We are going to line our facility in Gator pink posters for Saturday's meet! Each lane will be working together to make a poster. Plan on your child staying 10-20 minutes after their practice session to help their lane-mates complete this! Entries for the 6/13 meet close today (6/11) at 4 PM. If you do not have entries done by this time- we may not have room for your athlete to be in the meet, your athlete will not be in relays, and if we do have an empty lane for them to swim...they will not appear in the program. I will not be sending another reminder for these entries so please take care of those ASAP. Each athlete will be allowed 2 individual entries and 2 relays maximum. Reminder that families are responsible for signing their athletes up for meets through their Swimtopia account. If you do not know how or are having a hard time with Swimtopia please reach out to me early, not Thursday at 3:59 PM. :)

Friday 6/12- Regular Practice (OG girls 12 & under set up day, arrive at 6:15 AM) I will have heat sheets emailed out before practice starts and be able to give an estimated end time for our meet.

Saturday 6/13- Meet at Nelson Farm. We will be hosting SCCA, Village Green, and Loveland Lakers. Athletes need to be in the Gator Pit (baby pool area) by 6:30 AM for a team meeting. Warmup is from 6:40-7:00 AM. We will be meeting again at 7:40 in the Gator Pit as a team to review some meet logistics and expectations. Feel free to review these before with your athletes.

  • Early is on time to the heating area. Pay close attention to the first call/last call board near the starting stand. If you aren't sure when to go to the heating area an OG swimmer or coach can help.
  • If you miss one of your events...then Jamie or Kaidan get to pick one of your events at the next meet and we heard that we have some open spaces in the 400 free, 200 IM, and butterfly!!
  • If you know how to write your events, please do this the night before. Coaches will be available to help with this after practice on Friday too. I am attaching a screenshot with a little "how-to". With a bigger meet, coaches aren't going to be as available to help with this. We will have more time after the warmup to complete if needed.
  • It is expected starting this Saturday that at all meets, athletes stays until the end of the meet. You may only leave early if you have communicated with a coach. This helps us to support our teammates in later events!
  • If you are not competing in the events coming up, stay out of the heating area so that athletes get to their events on time.
  • Check in with a coach before and after races. This meet will be a lot more spaced out, so athletes will have time to come talk about some reminders before their race and get some feedback after.
  • We will be doing flyovers at Saturday's meet for our 9+ year olds which we will practice this week.

Thank you for your patience as Kaidan and I get names to faces, and get into the swing of things with this incredible program. It is an honor to spend our summer with you athletes, the most fun parts are ahead too! :) Go Gators!

Jamie
