7/12 Meet Recap, Practice Schedule, and City Meet Entries
Hi Team,
I hope everyone is enjoying a well-deserved restful Sunday.
Congratulations to all the Gators on a great day of swimming yesterday. After a dominating performance in the friendly waters of the NFAC, the Nelson Farm Gators capped off an undefeated regular season!
Beyond the win, it was a magical day at the NFAC. For some of our athletes, yesterday was the last home meet of their summer swim career; for others, it was their first home meet in what is hopefully a long run with Nelson Farm. We had veteran, long-time parents handing off the baton as they trained the next generation of eager and helpful volunteers.
As always, we displayed the best sportsmanship of any team — consistently staying in the water to shake our opponents hands and lining the pool to cheer for our teammates.
And finally, some Gators even got to see Coach Kyle swim for the first time ever!
Congratulations again, BUT we're not done yet...
As we gear up to defend our City Championship title, there's a few important things to note:
1) City Meet entries are finalized and submitted. Attached you'll find an individual entry report that shows what everyone is swimming. A few things about entries:
- Being a champion requires making sacrifices. Some of you may not be entered in your three favorite events.
- City Meet event selection was based on: part swimmer preference, part proximity to state qualifying times, and (large) part what was best for the team.
- We train all summer long to be able to swim any event, so feel confident that whatever you are signed up for, you'll do great!
- Relays play a huge role at City Meet because of the large point totals assigned to the top results. Unlike regular season relays where I try to mix things up and don't worry too much about results, it's in the best interest of the Nelson Farm Gators to put our fastest combination of swimmers together in relays. (The only exception to this "rule" is if there were any behavior or attendance issues - which we did not have this season).
- Everyone is in at least one relay.
2) Our practice schedule leading up to City Meet is different:
- READ THE ATTACHED CITY MEET WEEK PRACTICE SCHEDULE
- OGs — there are no specific set up days this week, everyone please arrive together at the specified time on the schedule.
3) We have our team picture on Thursday 7/17 @ 8:00 am. Wear your team shirts!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
A proud Coach Kyle
