Sign Up for 6/28 Meet + City & State Update
Hi Team,
Sign up for our meet on Saturday (6/28) at Westfield is open in Swimtopia!
Swimmers are allowed to sign up for three individual events. (Remember coaches will handle relays).
The deadline to sign up is Wednesday (6/25) at 10 am. (Westfield is asking for entries earlier so I need to move our deadline up from Thursday to Wednesday).
- If you don't enter your events in Swimtopia by 10 am on 6/25, you'll miss sign up and won't be able to swim at the meet.
- "Undeclared" status in Swimtopia will be interpreted as "Not Attending."
- Double check that you sign up for the correct events.
- OG's — remember you need to swim two of the "big three" events throughout the duration of the season.

A few quick notes on City Meet and State...
City Meet at SCCA:
- Last week SCCA sent an email that was intended for just the coaches to the entire league — so you likely read about the City Meet tweaks, but I want to follow up and make sure everyone is clear on the two changes this year:
- Swimmers are only allowed to swim three (3) individual events at City. I'm calling this the "Nelson Farm Rule." In the past, swimmers were allowed to swim four individual events. Very few teams prepared and encouraged their swimmers to swim the max four events — but we always did, and it scored us lots of points. Maybe they changed it to three events to speed things up and make for a quicker day, but I like to think it's because the league is scared of Nelson Farm and they're trying to find new ways to stop our shine :)
- There are three sessions this year. They're moving the 10 & under distance events to the first day. My guess is to make for a shorter day on Saturday; although in my opinion this creates a pretty big inconvenience for families to commit their entire afternoon for one event. But, nobody asked me so we'll roll with it and make it work. The City Meet schedule looks like this:
- Session One: Friday, July 18th AM - Ages 11 & Up (medley relays through the free relays)
- Session Two: Friday, July 19th PM - Distance events (8&U — 100 free; 9-10 — 200 free; 11-12 — 200 free; 13 & up — 200/400 free)
- Session Three: Saturday, July 20th AM - Ages 10 & Under (medley relays through the free relays)
State Meet:
The State Meet is hosted in two different locations this year.
Friday, July 25th - 400's @ Applewood Knolls Swim Club (Wheatridge, CO). Starting at 8 am.
Saturday, July 26th - Ages 12 & Under @ Splash Aquatic Park (Golden, CO). Starting early am.
Sunday, July 27th - Ages 13 & Up @ Splash Aquatic Park (Golden, CO). Starting early am.
We've had a handful of individual state qualifiers so far which is awesome! When a swimmer qualifies for State in an individual event, they also qualify a medley and free relay for that respective age group. This means that even if a swimmer doesn't qualify in an individual event, they might still have a chance to participate at State in a relay. So far we have State relays in the following age groups:
8&U Girls
8&U Boys
9-10 Girls
11-12 Boys
15-18 Girls
15-18 Boys
So swimmers in these age groups who might not qualify individually, should keep working hard, keep their calendars clear on these dates, and wait to hear more information from Coach Kyle about relay decisions. Hopefully we'll add some additional age groups and relays as the season progresses — stay tuned!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Go Gators!
Coach Kyle
