Hellloooooo Nelson Farm Swim Team!

I hope everyone is having a great spring.

I confidently shared with all of you last summer that 2024 was officially my second-to-last season coaching the Gators ;) Which means, as long as the whole team commits to attending the City Meet this summer, I’ll be back for what is truly my final season!

Expect the Coach Kyle farewell tour to be extra fun, extra memorable, and extra hard :) Spread the good word with family and friends — let's get as many folks as we can to join our awesome team this summer!

Returning with me this season on the coaching deck are our lively and capable home-grown assistant coaches:

There is one noticeable change to our coaching setup this summer…Unfortunately I will not be coaching the 8 & unders this season. I can’t roll into work at 10 am everyday if I want to keep my “real” job — which I need to keep for survival reasons. I’ll certainly stick around for the young blood practices when my work schedule allows! I’ll still be responsible for mapping out the 8&U season, writing their workouts/practice sessions, and collaborating closely with the assistant coaches to gauge progression and vibes (and make any tweaks as needed). I have the utmost confidence in my coaching staff to lead the 8&U’s in my absence.

With me as always is the incomparable Melissa Willey (with ol’ reliable Jeff Willey on the meet computer), Swimtopia aficionado John Cloudman, and Nelson Farm Secretary of State Casey Cash (and Chief of Staff Wade Hancock behind the scenes).

WE'RE 44 SLEEPS AWAY FROM THE FIRST PRACTICE, so I want to share some key dates and info:

• In place of an on-site informational kick-off meeting at the NFAC, we’ll provide a virtual Q&A for any interested families at the end of May!

• If you didn't do the math on the number of sleeps, the first day of practice is Monday, June 2nd.

• As a reminder, the practice schedule is as follows:
  • Ages 13 & up: 6:30 - 7:45 am (*During Gator Week, practices are earlier)
  • Ages 9 - 12: 7:45 - 8:45 am
  • Ages 8 & U: 8:45 - 9:30 am

• 2025 Meet Schedule:
  • Sat 6/7: Intersquad practice meet @ Nelson Farm
  • Sat 6/14: @ Village Green
  • Sat 6/21: @ Nelson Farm
  • Sat 6/28: @ Westfield
  • Sat 7/12: @ Nelson Farm
  • City Meet (@ SCCA): July 18th (11 & up) and July 19th (10 & under)
  • As always, but especially with this being my last season, I need everyone to prioritize the City Meet. I expect the whole team in attendance — let's defend our City Championship title in 2025!
  • State Meet (The Splash in Golden, CO) is July 25th (400’s), July 26th (12 & under), & July 27th (13 & up)

  Other key dates:

  • Summer Solstice Sprint Meet: week of June 16th, exact date TBD (13 & up swimmers only)
  • Gator Week: June 23 - 27
  • No practice: July 4-6 (no meet 7/5)

Lastly, registration opens on April 26th for returning families and Nelson Farm neighborhood families! Look for an email from the Nelson Farm account on that date. The email will contain information on how to sign up in SwimTopia as well as season costs and volunteer fees (and purchasing our pink team suits!). If you don’t get the email, please reach out to John Cloudman.
