City Meet - Day 2 Info

Hi Gators,

We had an awesome day one of City Meet -- it was so much fun! The older kids absolutely crushed it. Every single swimmer dropped time in multiple events. More importantly, it's clear that our group is by far the most friendly, engaged, and supportive team out there.

I have not seen day one scores or final results yet, but I know it's VERY close between us, SCCA, and Huntington Hills. We need our young bloods to step up big tomorrow!

Speaking of tomorrow, two things of note:

1) Families/parents -- you don't need to get there unreasonably early to set up as planned because we were able to leave some tents and chairs up, so we still have a decent Gator territory staked out. But please make sure all swimmers are there by 6:15 am.

2) Parents - when possible, please try to video your swimmer's events tomorrow. I'm not going to sugar coat it — today was the worst officiating I've seen in 14 years of City Meets. I always aim to model sportsmanship and never complain about fairness — the kids know my favorite saying is "life's tough get a helmet." But when my athletes work their butts off at 6:15 am all summer to succeed at City, then have that taken away from them without legitimate reason, I get really upset (if you can't tell). If we have their swims on video, that should help with an official protest (in theory). I'll go to war for these kids...

On a more positive note, thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for timing and working the heating area today - we appreciate you.

And congrats to all our swimmers for some amazing performances in the pool today - I'm very proud of you.

GO GATORS!
